Let us not be fooled, in many ways the intensity and depth of the economic crises crippling Andalucia and España is home grown. This crises was going to happen with, or without the help of America. I have been waiting for some positive ideas from either the government, or the opposition, but grow tired of waiting. Many, many families are suffering greatly from the lack of any real and dynamic policies that can reverse the free fall of the Spanish economy. Sustainable employment? Please Mr president share your views as to the definition of sustainable employment and Mr Rajoy. Have you considered that maybe the prime motivation of someone wishing to stand for high office might be how to benefit the country and its people? Do you really believe that the untold families and people of this great country struggling to survive right now give a damn for political ideology?
Some suggestions.
Tourism.
Did you know that many people outside of Europe and in particular countries of the former Soviet Union are unable to obtain a tourist visa to visit España, incredible as this may seem, the result? Turkey, Croatia, Egypt and other countries are gaining this important business. Can Andalucia and España really afford to lose this business? This is a very practical suggestion and the government could act on this in days, or weeks and this could have an immediate impact!
Residential Tourism.
The Junta de Andalucia have not done well in planning and controlling the development of The costas and Andalucia. The coast is now what it is, but, there remains the opportunity to develop inland Andalucia with care and with a view to the future. There is a huge demand from across the world for the lifestyle, climate and tranquilty that inland Andalucia has to offer, but it is currently blocked by the over hastily implied law of 2002/2003, LOUA. Rather than implement much needed control of building which was ruining the beautiful Andalucian countryside, the Junta effectively banned all new building in the campo with disastrous consequences for employment.
Look at this law, improve this law, both with care and with a view to the future and most importantly guarantee, security and peace of mind to perspective foreign purchasers, or all credibility is lost. The general concensus is that this law was thrown together in haste with neither due care, or diligence.
Again the Junta have the power to change, improve and create a new law that can satisfy foreign demand for a secure, safe and tranquil place in the sun and help stimulate the economy of inland Andalucia. Again this could be acted upon very rapidly. I am sure that the Junta De Andalucia have a huge number of highly educated and motivated employees that could be set to look, study and come up with enlightened, intelligent and forward looking proposals. Use this Talent, vision and forward looking vision to fix this mess. You could begin tomorrow!
The Olive.
In many ways this is the saddest story of all, that the most important region on this planet of this precious natural, medicinal and health promoting product is not known Worldwide is really shocking. Why should this be?
The truth is the world does not know how important Spain and Andalucia is in terms of quantity and quality of this incredibly important fruit. How can this be? Why is Italy regarded as the most important producer of the Olive and why does Italy control so many important world markets? The Olive can have huge importance for Andalucia and the quality, quantity and beneficial properties of the Andalucian Olive should be made public worldwide with central government backing. Olive oil can and should be a vital business of huge importance to Andalucia and España, but the marketing and development of worldwide markets needs to be supported, profesionalized and developed with serious government backing and coordination. The Olive could and should be the third leg of the Andalucian economy.

It has attractive and colourful main streets, a picturesque Marina and wonderful blue flag sandy beaches. The choice of restaurants and bars are just too many to sample in one holiday. There are seven recommended by Michelin (three with stars) and a huge variety of others to suit all budgets. The combination of terraced vineyards, wonderful mountains and blue sea, combine to make this an area of spectacular beauty. Thankfully, the local authority has jealously guarded the appearance of Moraira, which has prevented the over-developed characteristics of other Spanish resorts. There are no high rise holiday hotels here. In fact, there are no package holiday hotels here at all. Instead, beautiful private villas and ‘pueblo style’ developments line the slopes of the valley, which gently decline towards the beach and town. This dictates to a degree, the type of holidaymaker found in Moraira. Those attracted to this resort, tend to be family units, using or renting privately owned villas. Teulada Moraira has some of the cleanest beaches on the Costa Blanca. Teulada Moraira has soft, gentle, sandy beaches: perfect for children and rocky coves and inlets: perfect for scuba divers and snorkelers. As well as the beaches, Teulada Moraira has plenty of water-sports for the more active tourist.
Teulada Moraira is on Spain’s Costa Blanca and is a traditional offering the holidaymaker many of the important facilities requried for a great family holiday. From the almond and orange farms in the stunning valleys, to the peaks of the Montgo national park, the scenery and views are breathtaking. From its traditional restaurants to its award wining Moscatel wines and from the fantastic coastal walks to its clean and safe beaches, Teulada Moraira really does live up to its name as the ‘Jewel in the Costa Blanca crown’.
The town of Teulada is located six miles from its sister: Moraira. Teulada is the administrative centre of the town and is where the town hall, police station and hospital are located. Moraira is the coastal resort. Thankfully, it has been spared much of the over-development that many other Spanish coastal towns have succumbed to and retains its charm as a trendy, cosmopolitan resort built on its traditional fishing village origins.
The coastal area of Teulada Moraira is home to some of Spain’s cleanest beaches. Awarded blue-flag status, they provide the holidaymaker with a wide-range of beach holiday options: family-friendly, sandy beaches, ideal for families with young children, to water-skiing and jet-skiing to wind-surfing and sailing. It is possible to explore each of Teulada Moraira’s beaches and leave with a new and exciting holiday experience.
The list below details the beaches along the Teulada Moraira coast. Be sure to try each one and pick a favourite: you will definitely want to go back, time and time again.
La Cala is a small rocky beach, with the most crystal clear waters on the Costa Blanca. Best accessed by boat, although a beautiful walk along the cliff path can also take you to the beach, it is located at the most northerly point of the Teulada Moraira coast. It is an excellent beach for a quite afternoon on a lounger reading your favourite holiday novel.
Moving south, the next beach is at El Portet Moraira. It is a wide and shallow cove with a gentle sloping beach: 50 feet out from the shoreline, the water will just be lapping at your knees. The shallow beach and lack of waves make this a firm favourite for young children. Situated directly behind the beach, is a modern restaurant catering for all tastes. It serves great fresh fish and a wide-range of refreshing, cooling drinks. For the real food fan, El Portet Moraira has a two-star Michelin restaurant: Le Dauphin. It is an absolute must for an early evening meal, sat on the terrace above the beach, enjoying a crisp Chardonnay as you take in the view across the stunning bay while, in the distance, the sun sets dramatically behind the mighty Penon d’Ifach rock. El Portet Moraira is located a five minute drive from the centre of Moraira. With great facilities and ample car-parking, it is an excellent choice for a great day out.
Next along the Teulada Moraira coast is Playa D’Ampolla. One of the four Moraira beaches awarded a blue flag award. In keeping with the blue flag standards, the Playa D’Ampolla is kept exceptionally clean and tidy. It is a golden, sandy beach and is the largest and most popular beach in Teulada Moraira. Families love it for its soft and golden sand, sunbathers love it for its wide and deep expanse and water enthusiasts love it for its array of sporting facilities. Amongst its facilities, it has a great beach-bar, loungers and umbrellas, showers and bathroom facilities and is patrolled by Red Cross lifeguards.
Further along the coast is Platgetes, which comprises two small beaches: one is shallow, with golden sand, whilst the other is rocky with an abundance of small, sea-life swimming in its inlets and coves: great for young children to explore. A promenade links the two beaches and provides excellent photo opportunities. The beaches are equipped with a parking area, a restaurant and a Red Cross platform where a life-guard keeps a safe watch across the beaches.
At the most southerly point of the Teulada Moraira coast is the last beach: L’Andrago. It is a pebble-beach, with large boulders dotted here and there: ideal for laying out a towel, lying back and topping up your tan. The coves and inlets at the edges of the beach are an excellent location to practice your scuba-diving and snorkeling. Famous, locally for being a very quiet beach, it is the perfect location for a quiet afternoon of relaxing, stress-free sunbathing. Additionally, parking is available and a number of small restaurants are just a five-minute walk away.
Have you been tempted? Can you imagine yourself laid out, on a towel as the warm Mediterranean sun removes the stresses and strains of modern life? Can you feel the cool waters lapping at your sides, whilst your children frolic in the safe, clean sea? Would you like to dive under the Mediterranean sea: a haven for many stunning forms of sea-life? If so, discover more of what Teulada Moraira: the ‘Jewel in the Costa Blanca crown’ has to offer by exploring the Teulada Moraira website.
